Washer Repair in Dallas, TX

A washer that quits mid-cycle leaves you with a drum of soaking clothes and a hamper that keeps filling. Every day it sits broken means another laundromat run. Mayfair Enterprises offers washer repair in Dallas, often the same day you call.

Most washer breakdowns trace back to a few parts. Think clogged drain filters, worn lid switches or door locks, stretched belts and tired pumps. Those are usually fixable. Buying a new machine is often not needed. Sam and Reese own the business and bring 10 years of appliance repair experience, including front and top loaders.

Call Sam at 214-406-5754 or Reese at 269-227-0382 and tell us where the cycle stopped. We're open 8 AM to 8 PM every day, and we answer 24/7 for emergencies like a flooding laundry room.

Washer Problems We Fix, by Cycle Stage

The fastest way to find a washer fault is to notice where the cycle stops. Each stage points to a different set of parts.

    1. 1

      Won't Fill

The washer hums, but no water comes in. The usual causes are closed supply valves, clogged inlet screens or a failed water inlet valve. Check that both valves behind the washer are fully open first.

    2. 2

      Won't Agitate or Tumble

Water fills, but the drum doesn't move. On top loaders, a worn drive coupler or lid switch is common. On front loaders, look at the drive belt, motor or door lock.

    3. 3

      Won't Drain

Water stays in the drum after the cycle ends. A clogged filter, a kinked hose or a failed drain pump is usually to blame.

    4. 4

      Won't Spin

Clothes come out soaking wet. The washer may sense an unbalanced load, or a lid switch, door lock or belt may have failed.

We repair all of these on front load, top load and stacked washer units.

Washer Loud, Shaking or Walking Across the Floor?

A washer that bangs, shakes or moves during spin usually has an unbalanced load, an uneven floor or worn suspension parts. Start with these simple checks:

If it still shakes on a normal load, the cause is usually inside. On top loaders, worn suspension rods let the tub swing. On front loaders, failed shock absorbers or tub springs do the same. A loud roar or grinding during spin often points to worn drum bearings.

Don't keep running a washer that walks. It can pull its hoses loose and flood the floor. Switch it off and call us.

    Clothes Still Dirty or Soapy?

Soapy clothes usually mean too much detergent or a slow drain. Use HE detergent in HE washers and measure by the label. Dingy loads can also come from an overloaded drum or a clogged filter. If clothes stay soapy on a normal load, the drain pump may be weak.

    Why Won't My Washer Drain?

A washer that won't drain usually has a clogged filter, a kinked drain hose or a failed drain pump. On front loaders, start with the filter behind the small panel at the bottom front.

LG recommends cleaning the drain pump filter on its front load washers every month. A clogged filter causes slow draining or an OE error code. The same filter catches socks, coins and hair ties on many other front load brands.

How to Check the Drain Filter

    1. Turn the washer off and unplug it.
    2. Place towels and a shallow pan under the access panel.
    3. Drain the leftover water through the small drain hose, if your model has one.
    4. Twist the filter out and clear any debris.
    5. Screw it back in firmly and close the panel.

If the filter is clear and water still won't drain, the drain pump or its motor has likely failed. That's a repair for us.

Dallas Hard Water and Your Washer

Dallas tap water is moderately hard, at about 8 to 9 grains per gallon. That's according to Dallas Water Utilities' 2024 water quality report. Hard water makes detergent less effective and leaves mineral scale inside washers.

Here's how that shows up in a Dallas laundry room:

    Simple Fixes That Help

When the inlet valve itself is clogged or failing, cleaning won't fix it. The valve needs replacing.

Front Load vs. Top Load: What Tends to Break

Front load and top load washers fail in different ways. Knowing your type helps you spot the problem sooner.

    Front Load

    Common failures

Door lock, door boot seal, drain pump, drum bearings

    Early warning signs

Door won't unlock, musty smell, loud roar on spin

    Top Load

    Common failures

Lid switch, drive coupler, agitator parts, suspension rods

    Early warning signs

Won't spin with the lid shut, drum won't move, heavy shaking

    Stacked Washer and Dryer

    Common failures

Tight access, door lock, drain pump

    Early warning signs

Slow draining, errors after moving the unit

How to Stop Front Load Washer Smell

Front load washers seal tightly, so moisture stays inside after each load. That's what causes the musty smell. Whirlpool recommends these steps:

    1. Run a clean washer cycle monthly, using a washer cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach.
    2. Leave the door open between loads so the drum can dry.
    3. Remove wet clothes right away when the cycle ends.
    4. Use only HE detergent. Extra suds trap moisture and residue.
    5. Wipe the rubber door seal and clean the dispenser drawer.

If the smell comes back within days, check the door seal for tears or trapped debris. A torn seal can also leak.

Washer Repair Dallas TX: What to Do Before We Arrive

A few minutes of prep protects your floor and your clothes while you wait for us.

    Stop the Water First

If the washer is leaking, shut off both water valves behind it. Then unplug the machine or switch off its breaker. A burst or loose hose keeps feeding water until the valve is closed. Then call us. We answer 24/7 for flooding washers, including nights and weekends.

    Rescue the Wet Load

Clothes left sitting in a drum of water start to smell within a day. On a top loader, lift them out and wring them over a tub. On a front loader, drain the water through the drain pump filter first, as shown above. The door usually unlocks once the drum is empty.

Have These Ready When You Call

    • The brand and model number
    • Any error code on the display, or a photo of it
    • Where the cycle stopped: fill, wash, drain or spin

With that information, Sam or Reese can often narrow down the failed part before the visit. We then test it on site, fix it and run a full cycle before we leave. If a part must be ordered, we come back as soon as it arrives.

Call 214-406-5754 or 269-227-0382 for washer repair service in Dallas. Returning customers get $35 off their next repair.

    How a Washer Repair Works

    1. You call or message. Sam or Reese answers. Tell us the brand, the error code and where the cycle stopped.
    2. We set a visit. We aim for the same day. Calling early in the day gives you the best chance.
    3. We find the real fault. We test the pump, switches, belt and valves instead of guessing from the symptom.
    4. We explain, then fix and test. You hear what failed and what the fix involves before we start. We run a full cycle before we leave.

Should You Repair or Replace Your Washer?

Repair usually makes sense if your washer is under about 8 years old. Replacement often makes sense past 10 years when a major part, like the motor, fails. Angi recommends replacing a washer when the repair costs more than half the price of a new one.

Under 8 years, drain pump, lid switch, belt or inlet valveRepair

    Washer Repair FAQ

How long does washer repair take?

Most washer repairs take a single visit when the part is on hand. A lid switch, belt or clogged drain filter is usually quick. A drain pump, door lock or control board takes longer. If a part must be ordered, we come back as soon as it arrives.

Why won't my front load washer door open?

The door stays locked while water is in the drum, for safety. If the cycle ended with water inside, the washer couldn't drain. Clean the drain pump filter first. If the drum is empty and the door stays locked, the door lock has likely failed.

How do I stop a leaking washer before you arrive?

Turn off both water valves behind the washer, then unplug it or switch off its breaker. Mop up standing water so it doesn't reach walls or cabinets. Leave the machine where it is, and note whether the water came from the door or from underneath.

Is it cheaper to repair my washer or use the laundromat until I replace it?

For most washers under about 8 years old, repair is the better value. Common fixes like a drain pump, lid switch or belt are usually worth doing. We'll tell you honestly if your washer is past the point where repair makes sense.

Do you repair Samsung and LG washers in Dallas?

Yes. We repair Samsung and LG washers, including those showing drain, fill and unbalanced load codes. We also repair Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, GE, Electrolux and Bosch washers. Have your model number ready when you call.

Do you repair stacked washer and dryer units in apartments?

Yes. We repair stacked washer and dryer units in Dallas apartments, condos and townhomes. Access is tighter, so tell us it's a stacked unit when you call. If you rent, check your lease first, since the landlord may be responsible for appliances that came with the unit.
