Still Covered by the Maker? Check This Before You Book Any Repair

Frisco is a young city. It grew from about 33,700 people in 2000 to over 200,000 in 2020, according to the US Census. About 81.5% of its homes were built in 2000 or later, per NeighborhoodScout. So many Frisco appliances are still new enough to be covered by their maker.

That matters before you call anyone, us included. Most makers cover major appliances for one year, and they often require their own service network. Whirlpool's standard coverage, for example, includes parts and labor for one year. It also excludes damage from unauthorized service.

Use this to decide who to call first:

Your situationCall first
Appliance bought less than a year agoThe manufacturer's service line
You have a home protection planYour plan provider, to open a claim
You bought an extended protection planThe plan company listed on your receipt
Coverage has ended, or you'd rather skip the claimMayfair Enterprises

We'd rather you use coverage you already have. Once it runs out, we're here, and you deal with the owners directly instead of a claims queue.

Dishwasher Won't Drain, Clean or Stop Leaking?

Dishwasher problems top the list of appliance repairs Frisco homeowners look up. The cause depends on what the machine is doing, so start with the problem you see.

A New Disposal, and Now the Dishwasher Won't Drain

This one catches a lot of Frisco homeowners after a kitchen update. Most built in dishwashers drain through the garbage disposal. A new disposal ships with a knockout plug sealing its dishwasher inlet. If the installer never removed it, the dishwasher has nowhere to send water.

Maytag lists the knockout plug as a top cause of a newly installed dishwasher not draining. The same guide names a missing high loop in the drain hose, a kinked hose, and a clogged disposal. None of these means the dishwasher is broken. See garbage disposal repair if the disposal itself hums or jams.

Dishes Come Out Dirty or Gritty

Work through these in order:

  1. Clean the filter. Most modern dishwashers have a removable filter under the bottom rack. A clogged one sends dirty water back over the dishes.
  2. Check the spray arms. Spin each arm by hand and clear any holes blocked by seeds or labels.
  3. Run the kitchen tap hot first. The first water into the dishwasher comes from the line under the sink. If that water is cold, detergent won't dissolve well.
  4. Look for scale. Frisco's water comes from the North Texas Municipal Water District, which reported hardness up to 165 ppm in 2024. White film on glasses usually means minerals, not a broken machine.

If the dishes stay dirty after all four, the wash pump or the heating element may have failed.

Water on the Floor

Check that the dishwasher sits level and that the door gasket isn't torn or folded. Too much detergent can also foam up and push water past the door. Some Bosch models show an E15 code when water collects in the base tray. That tray has a float switch that stops the machine to protect your floor.

A leak from under the machine is different. It usually means a failed pump seal, a loose hose clamp or a cracked tub. Those need a repairman. Our dishwasher repair page covers each fix.

Refrigerator or Dryer Making a New Noise? Here's What It Usually Means

A new sound is often the first warning before a refrigerator or dryer quits. Here's how to read the most common ones:

SoundWhat it usually meansHow urgent
Fridge clicks every few minutes, stays warmThe compressor is trying to start and failing, often a start relayCall soon, food is at risk
Buzzing near the ice makerThe ice maker is calling for water, but the supply is off or the valve failedTurn the ice maker off until it's checked
Squealing inside the freezer that gets louder when the door opensWorn evaporator fan motorCall within a few days
Rattling at the back or bottom of the fridgeCondenser fan hitting debris, or a loose drain panLow, but clean the area
Dryer thumps as it turnsWorn drum rollers or a flat spot on a rollerCall within a week
Dryer squeals or squeaksIdler pulley or drum belt wearing outCall within a week
Burning smell from the dryerLint near the heat sourceStop the dryer now and clean the lint trap and vent

A fridge that runs warm while the freezer stays cold usually has an airflow problem. Either the evaporator fan has stopped or the coil has frosted over from a defrost fault. See refrigerator repair, ice maker repair and dryer repair for details.

Oven or Stove Not Heating Right?

A gas oven that takes far too long to heat, or never lights, most often has a weak igniter. The igniter can glow orange and still not draw enough current to open the gas valve. So a glowing igniter doesn't prove the igniter is good.

On electric ovens, look at the bake element on the oven floor. A blister, a break or a bright spot on the element means it has failed. For cooktop burners that won't click or light, a wet or dirty burner cap is often to blame.

If you smell gas, leave your home first. From outside, call 911 and your gas company. Parts of Frisco are served by Atmos Energy and parts by CoServ, so check your bill. Once the gas is shut off and the home is safe, call us about the Dallas oven repair.

AC Repair in Frisco

Frisco's young housing stock matters for air conditioners too. Many systems installed in the 2010s are reaching the age when major parts start to wear. The National Association of Home Builders puts the life of a central air conditioner at 10 to 15 years. Mayfair Enterprises offers AC repair across Frisco, often the same day you call.

If your system is only a few years old, check your paperwork first. Many AC makers cover parts for several years, especially when the system was registered after installation.

Frisco Appliance Repair FAQ

Will an independent repair affect my manufacturer coverage?

It can while the maker's coverage is active. Whirlpool, for example, excludes damage from unauthorized service during its first year. If your appliance is still covered, call the manufacturer first. Once coverage ends, Mayfair Enterprises can take the job.

My dishwasher won't drain after a new disposal was installed. What's wrong?

Most likely the knockout plug is still inside the disposal's dishwasher inlet. New disposals ship with that plug in place, and it must be removed when a dishwasher connects. A kinked drain hose or a missing high loop can cause the same problem. The dishwasher itself is usually fine.

Do you serve Frisco Lakes and other homes near Lake Lewisville?

Yes. Mayfair Enterprises serves all of Frisco, including Frisco Lakes by Del Webb and other west Frisco homes near Lake Lewisville. We cover the Denton County side of Frisco as well as the Collin County side. Call 214-406-5754 to set up a visit.

How long should an air conditioner last in Frisco?

The National Association of Home Builders puts central air conditioners at 10 to 15 years. Hot Texas summers and attic installs can push a system toward the shorter end. If your AC is past 10 years and needs a major part, replacement may make more sense. We'll give you an honest view before any work.

Can I get same day appliance repair in Frisco?

Often, yes. Mayfair Enterprises aims to fix Frisco appliances on the same day you call. Calling in the morning gives you the best chance of a same day visit. If the day is already full, you'll get the next open time on the call.
